A556 Improvement Scheme Consultation ends 16th April - time is running out!    March 30, 2012

Time is running out to have your say about the A556 improvement Scheme.

When the consultation closes on 16th April, decisions will start to be made, and we will no longer be able to influence that decision. Please therefore make sure you complete your questionnaire, which was delivered to you last month, or do it online from the links below. This should take no more than 10 mins.

Many of you have asked us to help you complete the questionnaire and so the PC have enclosed some suggested answers  click here. You could just cut and paste the blue items, but of course feel free to change as you like.

Whist we would certainly prefer NOT to have ANY of the options proposed, we cannot afford to remain silent on them. For High Legh Village we need to express our preference as Option 1 Bridge B. There is a map of this option in the notice board outside the Village Hall.

Traffic flows under different options - This information is available on the consultation website

 • “A50 South of A556” is included to illustrate the effect on Mere on A50
• “A50 North of A556” is included to illustrate the effect on High Legh A50
• “Peacock/Chapel” is included to illustrate the effect on High Legh Chapel Lane residents
• From this, we concluded that Option 1 is indeed best for High Legh with Option 2 as the next worse.
• While it was observed that Mere, who we believe is backing Option 0, is adversely affected by 63% by going to option 1, this is nowhere near as extreme as the effect on High Legh and Millington (Chapel Lane) of going to Option 0. They would experience an increase in flow of 161%.

You can fill a questionnaire in for everyone in your household – irrespective of age!! The more received the more weight it will carry.
